Mind Monmouthshire is your locally trusted independent Mental Health Charity which has been formed over 40 years.
We have grown from a self-help group for those being discharged from Pen-Y-Fal Hospital, into an organisation which provides a point of contact, information, and a wide range of services for people experiencing poor mental health across the whole county of Monmouthshire.
Mind Monmouthshire endeavour to put the needs of the people who use our services at the heart of everything we do.
Our mission is to support and empower anyone living with a mental health problem, deliver excellent services and promote understanding and respect anyone living with a mental health problem in Monmouthshire.

Chair
Originally a health care professional specialising in anaesthesia, I soon became active in trade unions which led to working with the TUC representing clients at benefits and employment tribunals. It was obvious from the start that people with mental health problems were treated very badly both at work and when claiming benefits.
Before moving to Abergavenny some years ago I was a councillor on a large unitary council for many years, including being the cabinet member for finance and staffing. I also served as a trustee for a national charity which is an umbrella organisation for independent advice services. I am now employed by a trade union in the education sector and am active in local politics.
I believe the role of a trustee is ensuring that high quality and well managed services are provided to those in need by being good employer and upholding the highest standards of ethical and financial probity.
